Volunteer on the Copley Ridge Forest Trail!

Are you interested in helping to build and maintain the hiking trails in the Copley Ridge Forest in upper Lantzville? The District of Lantzville has registered two trail on the crown land that currently functions as a woodlot.  Registering these trials won’t protect the forest and in fact logging can occur on both sides of the trail without the need for a buffer zone. Many of the smaller existing trails were not successfully registered.

The Parks & Recreation Commission is looking for volunteers to help trim brush, construct bridges and improve the hiking trails on an ongoing basis. This work is considered heavy construction work. You may volunteer for as much or as little time as you wish – any participation in these supervised work parties is appreciated! We provide the orientation, tools and gloves. Our agreement with the Province and the insurance company requires that we register volunteers in advance of the work parties, so if you are interested in volunteering, please email  trudy@lanrtzville.ca  and we will contact you with more information as it becomes available.

  1. I am a member of a local social club, Harbour City New Comers Club ( Alumni) We are basically a social club with many activities for members to enjoy socializing together and most often to enjoy the culinary offerings of the City of Nanaimo and surrounding area. There are more or less 135 members with about 40 – 60 attendees at each of our monthly meetings.

My position with HCNC is that of official “speaker getter” My task is to seek out interesting topics combined with interesting people. Your “Save The Lanzville Forest” certainly meets that criteria.

A member of your group met our HCNC Hiking group recently and your discussion with our hikers prompted a request to have someone from your group, speak to our group.

Our meetings are held the 1st Monday of each month at the City Facility at Beban Park. The coming dates are on, Oct 5th and following Nov. 2nd.

Usually we put aside 5-15 minutes for our speakers.

We would be pleased if you could find the time to speak to our group.

    Thank You
